Miyamoto Receives Highly Regarded Spanish Award For Game Contribution
Legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto has received an award from Spain for his video game contributions.
Legendary video game God designer and creator Shigeru Miyamoto has been recognized by the Prince of Asturias Awards, one of Spain’s most prestigious yearly awards which honor scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanistic works. It’s a big deal, basically.
Miyamoto has won the award in the Communications and Humanities. Although he was nominated twice before, this is his first time winning. Previous winners include Google, CNN and more. Miyamoto is responsible for countless video game series including Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin and more.
Miyamoto will receive a diploma, an insignia bearing the Prince of Asturias Foundations’ coat of arms, a sculpture designed by artist Joan Miro and a cash reward of $63,215.
