Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli revealed to CVGthat the Wii U is, “at a minimum on par with the current generation.”

He also notes a ‘respected developer’ is working on the Wii U with CryEngine 3.  ”My opinion of the Wii U is very high,” stated Yerli.

Although Yerli is happy with the platform, he states that Crytek “[...] didn’t have a business case unfortunately that justifies us making a game for it [Wii U]“.

Although Crytek doesn’t have any games in the pipeline for the Wii U at the moment, the state that CryEngine 3 ‘runs beautifully’ on the Wii U.

“It doesn’t mean that CryEngine 3 doesn’t run on Wii U – it actually runs beautifully. In fact, there actually is a game in development from a respected developer that we will be announcing. I’ve seen the game running and it looks really great.”

 When speaking about the public’s concern that the Wii U will only be as powerful as current consoles, Yerli says he doesn’t understand the concern.”From my perspective I do not understand the public’s concerns that the Wii U is weaker than PS3 and 360,” he said. “That I cannot see. From my perspective the Wii U is minimum as powerful as Xbox 360.”
