3DS XL Announced, Releasing August 19th, 2012
During Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct presentation last night, the company detailed that the 3DS is getting a new revision of sorts – the 3DS XL.
The screens are 90% bigger than the current model, which means 4.88 inches for the top screen and 4.18 inches for the bottom screen. The screen resolution will remain the same as the current 3DS resolution. The battery life is on the 3DS XL is also improved, coming in at 6-10 hours (time varies depending on your settings).
The 3DS XL will launch in Japan and Europe on July 28th, 2012, however these packages will not include an AC adapter. The 3DS XL will cost 18,000 Yen in Japan, while European pricing is to be determined. The North American launch is on August 19th, 2012 for $199.99 and will include the AC adapter in the package. In all regions, a 4GB SD card is included with the 3DS XL, unlike the 2GB storage that regular 3DS’ have.
In terms of colors, all three regions are getting different ones. North America will have red/black and blue/black 3DS’. Europe will have Red/Black, Silver/Black and Blue/Black. Japan will get Red/Black, Silver/Black and White.
We don’t want to say we saw this coming….but we kinda did.
